Caro ascoltatore o ascoltatrice,
Ti scrivo dal parco. A Torino c’è un parco molto grande che si chiama “Parco del Valentino”. Questo parco mi piace molto perché è molto grande. Si trova lungo il fiume di Torino (il fiume Po) ed è spesso pieno di gente che fa sport e attività fisica, soprattutto in primavera e d’estate.
I’m writing you from the park. In Turin there’s a very big park called “Parco del Valentino”. It’s next to Turin’s river (the Po river) and it’s often full of people who play sports and exercise, especially in the spring and in the summer.

In questo momento sono seduto su una panchina e sto leggendo un libro all’ombra di di un albero. Beh, almeno questo è quello che stavo facendo prima di iniziare a scriverti questa lettera.
Right now I’m sitting [i’m seated] on a bench and I’m reading the book in the shade of a tree. Or at least that is what I was doing before starting to write [you] this letter.

Mi piacciono molto i parchi. Il verde infatti è importante per la nostra mente e per il nostro benessere. Mi piacerebbe poter venire a fare sport in questo parco (venire a correre, per esempio) ma purtroppo vivo fuori da Torino e quindi non è molto fattibile. Sì, potrei fare sport, però poi dovrei tornare sudato in treno o in macchina a casa… che non è una bella sensazione.
I like parks a lot. Nature [lit. “the green”, greenery] is important for our mind and for our well-being. I’d like to be able to come and exercise [“do sport”] in this park (to go running, for example), but unfortunately I live outside Turin and that is not that easy to do (“feasible”). Yeah, I could do it, but then I would have to come back home by car or by train all sweaty… which is not a great feeling.

Se vieni a Torino ti consiglio di passare dal parco del Valentino e di andare a vedere anche il Castello del Valentino, una residenza in mezzo al parco da cui prende il nome tutto il parco.
If you come to Turin, I recommend you go to the the Valentino park and you have a look at the valentino Castle, a mansion in the middle of the park, which is named after it [lit. from which the whole park takes the name].

Vai anche a fare un giro nel borgo medievale, che è molto pittoresco! Si tratta di una ricostruzione di un borgo medievale, appunto, costruita per un’esposizione universale a Torino nel 1884.
Also, walk around the Borgo medieval, which is very pictoresque. It’s a reconstruction of a medieval village, built for a universal exposition in Turin in 1884.

È piaciuto così tanto ai torinesi che hanno voluto tenerlo alla fine dell’esposizione e non demolirlo (un po’ come per la torre Eiffel per i parigini) e oggi è un’attrazione turistica del parco e di Torino.
The Turinese liked it so much that they wanted to keep it at the end of the exposition and not demolish it (a little bit like (what happened) with the Eiffel tower for the Parisians) and it’s now [today] a tourist attraction of the park and of the city.
